Job Description

RCL FOODS is seeking to employ a Checker. The role will be based in Randfontein and will report into the Warehouse Supervisor.

The Checker will be responsible for ensuring all the necessary inbound/outbound stock management checks are conducted within the warehouse in accordance with business policies & procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

Checking

  • Accurately check all picked and palletised stock across the warehouse prior to dispatch and loading.
  • Ensure all stock is correctly labelled with a shipment number, is correctly positioned on the pallet and has been stored at the correct temperature to ensure adherence to specifications. Identify and remove any damaged, expired or nonconforming stock in line with Company policies and procedures.
  • Implement warehouse good operating practices and deliver on key performance indicators.
  • Inspect products received for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications.

Housekeeping

  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure correct storage.
  • Ensure that stacking is neat, secure, and compliant.
  • Ensure pallet boards and pallets are removed timeously from pick levels.
  • Ensure the cage is neat and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure floors and walkways are neat and tidy.

Stock Control

  • Ensure products are stacked correctly and securely, i.e., light on heavy.
  • Conduct spot checks on dispatch (loading).
  • Ensure the correct handling, storing, stacking and rotation of stock.
  • Minimize damage of products on receiving
  • Always monitor stock movements.
  • Prevent over, short, and wrong loads.

Stock Count Preparations

  • Assist to prepare the warehouse for stock count.
  • Ensure all damaged stock is isolated and notes thereof placed.
  • Ensure easy access to products for stock counting purposes.
  • Conduct stock counts as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor/Coordinator.
  • Report all stock related issues to the Warehouse Supervisors.

Loading Rate Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Maintain and control the loading rate (speed and accuracy).
  • Complete performance sheets and record time lost or any other problems.

Occupational Health and Safety Compliance

  • Observe compliance with the health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure a high level of housekeeping, fire and accident prevention, safe work practices and proper job instructions.

Teamwork and Self-Management

  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning and prioritizing, and self-development.
  • Give work instructions to Forklift Drivers, Loaders and Pickers in the absence of the Warehouse Coordinator.
  • Ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
  • Inform relevant parties in the event tasks are or deadlines are not met, the potential risks thereof and provide appropriate resolutions.
  • Support and drive core business values.
  • Demonstrate willingness to help others and “go the extra mile” to meet team targets and objectives.

Minimum Requirements

Matric.

Computer literacy.

1+ years’ experience in warehousing or similar environment.

Verbal & written communication.

Logical thinking.
